Honda Racing Indonesia marks 40 years with a bold debut at Mandalika Festival of Speed 2025, showcasing top talent and iconic cars.
Jakarta, July 2, 2025 – Celebrating four decades of motorsport excellence, Honda Racing Indonesia (HRI) is set to make history with its full participation in the Mandalika Festival of Speed (MFoS) 2025, held on July 19–20 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Lombok. This milestone marks HRI’s debut in all rounds of the National Car Racing Championship, reinforcing its commitment to advancing Indonesian motorsport.
Facing the technically demanding Mandalika circuit, HRI has developed aggressive car setups, leveraging data and performance simulations to refine racing strategies. The team will field a robust lineup: Andri Abirezky in the ITCR 1200 class with the Honda Brio, Avila Bahar competing in both ITCR 1200 and ITCR 1500 with the Honda Brio and Honda City Hatchback RS, and Alvin Bahar in the ITCR 3600 with the Honda Civic Type R. This multi-generational roster underscores HRI’s dedication to nurturing national racing talent.
Alvin Bahar, Director of HRI, stated, “Adapting to Mandalika’s unique track is a challenge. After years of experience at Sentul, we’ve fine-tuned our strategies to compete at the highest level. With our team’s expertise and Honda’s proven performance, we aim to deliver consistent results throughout the season.”
Since its motorsport journey began in the 1970s at Ancol’s street races, Honda has been a cornerstone of Indonesian racing. From dominating BSD (2017–2019) to Sentul until 2024, HRI now embraces Mandalika as the new hub of national motorsport. The 2025 MFoS participation celebrates 40 years of legacy while driving the sport’s evolution in Indonesia.
Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director at PT Honda Prospect Motor, added, “We’re proud to support Indonesian motorsport for 40 years. MFoS 2025 is a significant milestone and a platform to showcase Honda’s racing prowess while elevating the sport to new heights.”
MFoS 2025 blends high-octane racing with entertainment, art, and local creative economy initiatives. Hosting four rounds, including six National Car Racing Championship events, it cements Mandalika’s status as a global automotive destination.
To honor its 40-year legacy, HRI unveiled a new livery inspired by Honda’s 1964–1968 Formula 1 designs, featuring bold red-and-white colors symbolizing courage and performance. A special “40th Years Honda in Indonesia Motorsport” logo adorns the cars, marking this historic chapter.
